About the Program

Mission Statement

To foster unprecedented understanding of our world through exploration and discovery. The Science & Technology Magnet High School of Southeastern Connecticut will instill the underlying values, skills, behaviors and ethics that will enable students to enter chosen careers in the field of science and technology and achieve success at institutes of higher learning.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to become the "hub" of science and technology instruction and professional development for southeastern Connecticut, as it positively impacts kindergarten through twelfth grade curricula.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate with a Science & Technology Magnet High School Certificate, a student must earn a minimum of 25 credits, including participation in an Internship and Senior Project related to the Learning Strand of their choice, and complete at least 60 hours on a Community Learning project.

Students in the Magnet High School are expected to complete the following:

English  4 credits  
Mathematics    4 credits
Science 4 credits
Social Studies  3 credits
Electives 2.5 credits
World Language 2 credits
Physical Ed./Health 2 credits
Technology 1 credit
Fine Arts/Voc. Ed. 1 credit 
Senior Project 1 credit
Internship    0.5 credit
